Liverpool capture Cody Gakpo was also wanted by Milan

With Liverpool having all but sealed the signing of PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo, it has been learned that Serie A champions Milan were also interested.

Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for the Dutchman but Marco Conterio has reported that United’s discussions were never complicated with the player. Liverpool’s offer was much more convincing to the Dutch side and United could never reach an agreement with PSV, as Jurgen Klopp’s side immediately ended up paying the €37 million requested.

Having said that, Milan were also interested in the Dutchman and it has been stated that they had also held several meetings for the player in the summer. But his potential arrival at the San Siro was linked to the exit of Rafael Leao, who has been linked with Chelsea and United.

The report also states that Liverpool’s capture of Gakpo comes because of Jurgen Klopp’s concerns regarding the injury issues in the forward line.
