Luciano Spalletti after Napoli’s draw v Fiorentina: “The fans abused my mother for 90 minutes”

Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti has revealed that Fiorentina fans at the Artemio Franchi were abusing his mother throughout the Partenopei’s 0-0 draw against La Viola.

In a game which saw limited clear cut chances, Napoli did find the back of the net once through Victor Osimhen but the goal was chalked off because of offside. Both sides had decent chances to score, but couldn’t conjure up any major chances. Hirving Lozano did have a glorious chance to take the lead for Napoli, but he couldn’t turn Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s ball into the net.

After the game though, Spalletti spoke to the press and he revealed that Fiorentina fans were using expletives about his mother throughout the game.

He stated: “The problems are always the same for those who come and say “your mother is a pig” for ninety minutes with children nearby, who watch and listen and nobody says anything to them. I’ve heard the same things for years , you have to take precautions if there are three morons. It is said that this happens everywhere, but it is not true: in Naples nobody says anything to the opposing coach. My mamma is 90 years old and I have only her. The rudeness of this level is an impossible thing.”

Napoli remain unbeaten in the league so far and Fiorentina are also unbeaten, having picked up two draws and one win so far in the campaign. The Partenopei have won two games, drawing one.
