Milan edging close to handing a massive transfer blow to Premier League club

Milan have been one of the interested parties in the Sven Botman pursuit for a long time.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Milan are keen on signing Botman from Lille in the upcoming summer transfer window. Milan’s acquisition of the Dutchman could be seen as a huge blow to the transfer ambitions of Newcastle United.

Like the Italian club, Newcastle have shared a prolonged interest in the defender. Since the Saudi Arabia-backed takeover went through, the Premier League side has kept a keen eye on who is considered one of the most talented centre-backs in Europe.

Despite the 22-year-old being bound to Lille’s contract until June 2025, it is suggested that a summer move is right on the agenda of the Dutch international. The reports believe that Botman is more inclined towards a move to Milan, with an agreement between the two parties reported to be getting closer.

Lille could close the deal for a transfer fee of around €35million. On the other hand, Milan will be offering a five-year contract to the player and a net salary of €4million per season.
