Milan monitoring Atalanta defender Caleb Okoli

Milan‘s focus on bringing in the youth has reached new limits over the last few years. Atalanta defender Caleb Okoli could well be their next pick as Paolo Maldini is understood to be personally scouting the talented 21-year-old.

According to what is reported by La Repubblica, Atalanta’s brilliant form in Serie A this season has drawn the eyes of several European clubs seeking some new names. It is believed that Okoli has inspired the Rossoneri management with his performances.

The Vicenza-born Italian was on loan at Cremonese last campaign and had a good spell there. Thanks to that, La Dea head coach Gian Piero Gasperini was desperate to include him in Atalanta’s first team at the start of the 2022/23 season. The report also suggests that Maldini personally watched the defender and was highly influenced by his performances.

Emerging through the ranks at Atalanta, the Italy U21 international has played eight games in Serie A. In what appears to be a massive relief for the Bergamo faithful, however, he has a contract with La Dea until June 2026.
