Milan set to meet Jorge Mendes over new Rafael Leao deal

Milan forward Rafael Leao is being looked at by several European clubs with the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and other giants in the line, as Milan are set to meet Jorge Mendes regarding a new deal at the end of 2022.

Since joining the Rossoneri in 2019 from Lille, the forward has showcased himself to be an eye-catching performer and one of the best young players in the world right now. Leao’s efforts in the form of 11 goals and 8 assists last season made him a real hero among Milan supporters as the club clinched their 19th Serie A title. However, his stellar performances haven’t gone unnoticed in Europe and clubs will be soon in for him as Milan are yet to offer an extension to him.

According to a report from Corriere Della Serra, the 23-year-old is happy with the club and wants to stay but his agent Jorge Mendes wants the club to make a considerable offer for his client because of Leao’s contribution to Milan’s success. The player currently earns around €1.5 million euros and the contract expires in 2024. The Portuguese’s camp wants the new contract to raise his salary to around €7.5 million euros which will be tough for the Rossoneri but not impossible. A meeting between the two parties is expected in the last few days of 2022.

Milan will look to finalise Rafael Leao’s extension soon to avoid any pressure from other clubs in the transfer window.
