Milan’s Ismaël Bennacer set to have €50 million release clause

Milan are closing in on an agreement with midfielder Ismaël Bennacer to renew his current contract which expires in 2024.

According to a report from journalist Daniele Longo in Calciomercato, there is already a verbal agreement in place between the two parties on the length of the extension which will end in 2027.

The Algerian has an excellent relationship with Stefano Pioli and possesses a desire to remain in Milan and grow as a footballer there. Apart from the standard details in the contract, the most noteworthy will be the €50 million release clause which is set to remain unchanged from Bennacer’s present contract.

In a meeting, two days ago between the player’s new agent Enzo Raiola and the Rossoneri management, there was a realisation that a gap of €500K exists between Milan’s offer and Bennacer’s demand. But the deal is expected to be thrashed out soon.

Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are now confident about officially announcing the contract extension by the end of this year.
