Milan’s Maldini on Barcelona’s interest in Kessie: “It is normal.”

Milan sporting director Paolo Maldini has talked about Barcelona’s interest in signing Franck Kessie in the summer.

Maldini spoke to Sportmediaset before the Rossoneri’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg against Inter and he was asked about whether the Rossoneri have tried to hand the Ivorian a new deal once again and whether Barcelona are interested.

The Italian said: “It’s normal, his contract is about to expire and we don’t have an agreement yet. The line is the one dictated by the club, we absolutely do not deviate from it.”

It has been reported recently that Barca are leading the race to sign Kessie for free in the summer, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2022.

The Catalan club, Sky Italia reported, have already accelerated talks for the midfielder and they have offered a contract of €6.5 million per season to the ex-Atalanta player. They are now closest to signing him in the summer.
