Napoli’s Victor Osimhen set to stay in Italy after rejecting Arsenal and Newcastle

There have been reports of Victor Osimhen looking for a new club this summer. But playing in the Champions League remains the primary objective of the striker.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TuttoNapoli) reports that Victor Osimhen has decided to stay at Napoli for the 2022/23 season.

Osimhen has not listened to the offers from Newcastle United, who tried to sign the striker in the last winter transfer window and made it clear that they would try to sign the striker again during the summer.

Newcastle were also willing to offer him a monumental figure in salaries. But the prospect of the Magpies not playing in the Champions League has led the Nigerian sharpshooter to ignore the calls of the Premier League side.

Arsenal are also thought to have shown interest in the marksman. But their offer for the 23-year-old has never been as lucrative as that of Newcastle.

Osimhen has always suggested that he would consider joining a team with great tradition and would like to play the leading role in the top tier of the European competition.

As Napoli will be playing Champions League football next season, he has leaned towards continuing his professional journey in Naples, where he has a contract until June 2025.
