Napoli given advantage in the race for Rennes target Kim Min-jae

Ligue 1 side Rennes have failed to finalise a transfer for Fenerbahce’s Kim Min-jae, giving Napoli a slight advantage in the transfer race.

A report from Italian transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Napoli have ramped up their interest in Kim Min-jae as Rennes’ attempts to sign the defender have hit a stalemate.

The French club was on the brink of beating the Italian side to the transfer of the talented South Korean centre-back. But having failed to finalise the deal, they have now fallen behind Napoli.

Napoli see Min-jae as a potential replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly. Koulibaly, who joined Chelsea on a permanent deal, was an integral part of the Naples-based side.

Hence, his departure from the club has created a massive void in the defensive department. Besides the Fenerbahce defender, Napoli are also considering signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Abdou Diallo.

Aurelio De Laurentiis’ side is understood to be in full swing to find a replacement for the Senegalese as it is no more an option but has become an obligation.
