Serie A side Lecce have signed Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti in what is a massive coup for the newly-promoted outfit.
While reports have stated that Lecce are also close to signing Wolfsburg defender Marin Pongracic, they have now sealed the signature of Umtiti.
Barcelona have confirmed that an agreement has been reached between them and the Giallorossi for a one-year loan deal which will run out at the end of June 2023. It currently a dry loan deal, with Lecce not having an option to buy the Frenchman at the end of it.
It has been previously suggested that the move is aimed towards Umtiti featuring in the FIFA World Cup and the defender is also looking to learn how tactics work in Italy as he plans to become a coach in the future. He will also work with a personal trainer during his time at Lecce, such that his fitness levels remain at a high level.
