Roma close possibility of Jose Mourinho exit amidst Portugal links

Roma are not willing to let Jose Mourinho walk away from the club amidst links with a move to the Portuguese national team.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have written about the situation of Mourinho today, stating that while journalists in Portugal are certain that the national team can’t hire the manager, the influence of Jorge Mendes is believed to be key in anything that unfolds because the agent has an exceptional network base in the country.

Having said that, Roma are very clear about two points. The first is that they do not want to ‘share’ Mourinho with another team because of how much he earns in his current role at the Giallorossi. Secondly, if another club or team does approach Mourinho, Roma would like to be paid a compensation for the exit despite the fact that there is no termination clause in his deal.

No one from the Portuguese Football Federation has been in touch with Roma, who consider the matter closed for now. Mourinho has let Portugal know that he can’t share responsibilities and he wants to stay in Rome. He is quite firm in his judgement right now but depending on what happens in the summer, things may change at that point.
