Roma line up contract renewal for the former Manchester United and Arsenal star

Jose Mourinho will reportedly embark on a mission to refurbish the current Roma squad this summer, but he will be keeping some of the current players at his disposal.

According to Il Messaggero, Roma will offer a contract renewal to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has understandably asked for a salary of around €4million for a two-year term in his new contract. He is also demanding an additional €2million to pen an extension in Rome. 

Formerly at Manchester United and Arsenal, Mkhitaryan has certainly revived his career in Italy. He has racked up five goals and nine assists from 43 appearances in all competitions this season. Under Mourinho’s guidance, the Armenian’s overall gameplay has also improved. Roma will be looking to keep the 33-year-old midfielder for a few more years.

The report further claims that Roma are awaiting Nicolo Zaniolo’s contract extension. He is understood to have requested a salary of €6million, which is closer to what Lorenzo Pellegrini currently earns at the Rome-based club.
