Roma to hold talks with Zaniolo’s agent over renewal amid interest from Juventus and Milan

Nicolo Zaniolo’s superb display against Bodo/Glimt has reportedly resurrected his career in Rome.

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that Claudio Vigorelli, Nicolo Zaniolo’s agent, and the club’s general manager Tiago Pinto could hold a meeting next week to initiate talks over a contract extension for the 22-yeard-old Italian.

Zaniolo’s a hat-trick against the Norwegian counterpart in the second leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-finals helped Roma qualify for the semi-final of the respective competition.

It might have been his best performance in a long, long time. The dazzling display has reportedly opened the eyes of Roma management, who are now pushing the club hierarchy to extend Zaniolo’s deal.

Zaniolo’s current terms at the Rome-based side expire in June 2024. Interest from Juventus and Milan has already clouded the winger’s future at Roma. Amid the uncertainty, Pinto will meet the entourage of the player in what will be the first meeting between the two parties.

Zaniolo understandably wants a salary close to Lorenzo Pellegrini’s €6million-per-year in his new contract at Roma. The report suggests that it will take some time to find an agreement.

It was previously reported that Rome would like to get rid of Zaniolo this summer, with the cub slapping an asking price of around €60million on the services of the flamboyant Italian.
