Roma’s Tiago Pinto on Zaniolo amidst Juventus links: “I can’t guarantee he will stay.”

Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto has stated that he can’t guarantee Nicolo Zaniolo’s stay at the club beyond the summer.

Zaniolo has been linked with a move to Juventus day and it has been stated that Juve had initiated talks back in December. Pinto spoke at a press conference and he was asked about the future of the Zaniolo and his contract situation.

He told: “Renewals are on hold for now, we had followed Zakaria. I cannot guarantee, neither I nor anyone else, that Zaniolo will stay next year.”

When asked about renewals in general, the Portuguese stated: “We have time to think about it. The same goes for renewals. I am not afraid of the future, we are doing a job to become stronger also from an economic point of view.

“In the coming months we will make a plan with one certainty: on 1 September 2022 we want to have a stronger squad beyond who we sell or who we buy. In the last three transfer sessions we have kept the most important players.”

Zaniolo’s current contract at the club expires in the summer of 2024 and talks are yet to advance for the player’s new deal.
