Romelu Lukaku risks missing not only the Roma game but also the Barcelona fixture

On loan from Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku has caused havoc inside the Inter camp with his recurring injury issues since re-joining the Nerazzurri in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will be without Romelu Lukaku when they return to action in Serie A on Saturday to lock horns with Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

The report understands that it became apparent yesterday that the Belgian striker would not be able to make the squad for the weekend’s fixture against the Giallorossi.

Lukaku has been on the sideline for Inter since playing 69 minutes of football against Lazio in August. The official confirmation noted that the 29-year-old had sustained a “distraction of the left thigh flexors”.

It was expected that he would regain fitness within the next 20 days. But with his recovery time is close to hitting the one-month frame, it appears as if the 29-year-old’s rehab has not gone well.

Now it is understood that Lukaku could even miss the game against Barcelona next Tuesday. Without one of their main strikers, Inter have not done wonders either, with Simone Inzaghi’s men getting defeated in three of their last five league matches.
