Serie A legend Claudio Marchisio: “Cristiano Ronaldo will not be good for what Luciano Spalletti has created at Napoli”

Serie A and Italy legend Claudio Marchisio has stated that Napoli will not be helped by the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Talk has been rife in recent days about Jorge Mendes offering Napoli a chance to sign Ronaldo and he is looking to operate on a deal which can send Victor Osimhen to Manchester United. But the deal remains complex right now, with the transfer window about to slam shut.

Recently, Marchisio spoke to La Domenica Sportiva (via CalcioNapoli24) and he gave his views about the situation of Ronaldo and whether the Partenopei will be helped by the signature of the Portuguese.

The ex-midfielder stated: “Cristiano Ronaldo does not help Napoli. He is not the functional player that he used to be in his earlier days. I don’t think he will be good for what Luciano Spalletti has created at Napoli.”

Ronaldo did score a fair amount of goals for United last season, but the Red Devils finished sixth in the table and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in the middle of the campaign as well. He didn’t make it to United’s pre-season training and Erik ten Hag has not given him a start in the previous two games in the Premier League.
