Serie A Preview: Milan vs Juventus

AC Milan welcome Juventus at the San Siro on Saturday evening, as they look to close in on the top of the table with a win.

Milan currently sit fifth in the Serie A table, however they remain only three points adrift of frontrunners Napoli. Stefano Pioli’s side are of course the defending champions and a win would see them go joint top on goal difference, putting pressure on the sides currently above them.

Milan come into this game after their 3-0 trashing at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League midweek. Pioli will expect a huge reaction from his players if they are to defeat the Old Lady, who themselves have started to show signs of some good form.

Juventus have had largely inconsistent season to date, sitting seventh in Serie A prior to this game. A win against the Rossoneri however would see them move right back into the mix. Juventus will be hoping to carry their form from the last two games into this one.

Team News

AC Milan suffered against Chelsea due to so many key players being out injured, this remains the fact against Juventus. One notable player who is returning to the XI will be Theo Hernandez who has featured in training photos posted by Milan. Theo returning is huge for Milan, as Ballo-Toure was poor against Chelsea, with the English side having lots of success against him. Despite the return of Theo, Milan will still be without Mike Maignan, Simon Kjaer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers.

Like Milan, Juventus will be without some key players such as Angel Di Maria who is suspended for violent conduct and also Paul Pogba who is still recovering from his injury. Additionally Federico Chiesa and Mattia de Sciglio remain on the injured list.

Predicted Lineups

AC Milan

(4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu; Dest, Kalulu, Tomori, Hernandez; Bennacer, Tonali; Krunic, De Ketelaere, Leao; Giroud

Milan

Juventus

(3-5-2): Szczesny; Bremer, Bonucci, Danilo; Cuadrado, Locatelli, Paredes, Rabiot, Kostic; Vlahovic, Milik

Will Juventus be able to get their season back on track? or will Milan reaffirm their ambitions of retaining their Scudetto? Either way we are in for a great game as these two Italian heavyweights meet.
