UEFA Champions League PREVIEW | Milan vs Chelsea

Tuesday’s headline Champions League tie sees Milan welcome Chelsea to the San Siro in the reverse fixture of last week’s 3-0 Chelsea win at the Bridge.

Milan will be keen to avenge the loss and a win would see them move above Chelsea in Group E, giving them an advantage for the two games remaining following this tie.

Both sides won impressively at the weekend, as Milan beat Juventus 2-0 and Chelsea thrashed Wolves 3-0, meaning each team will come into this game with huge confidence.

Milan will be hoping for an improvement on last week as they looked a shell of themselves as Chelsea strolled to victory in what must have been incredibly disappointing for Stefano Pioli.

Team News

In terms of absentees for Milan, they will be without the services of several high profile players such as Davide Calabria, Charles De Ketelaere, Alessandro Florenzi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Simon Kjaer, Mike Maignan and Alexis Saelemaekers, who all remain unavailable for the Italians. The return of Theo is huge though for their chances and as seen against Juventus, he is a pivotal part of everything Milan do.

Chelsea have a rather shorter injury list in comparison to Milan, with Hakim Ziyech and Ngolo Kante already out, Wesley Fofana joined that list in the game at Stamford Bridge last week as he had to withdraw following his goal due to a knee injury.

Predicted Line Ups

Milan: Tatarusanu; Dest, Kalulu, Tomori, Hernandez; Bennacer, Tonali; Krunic, Diaz, Leao; Giroud

Chelsea: Kepa; Chalobah, T Silva, Koulibaly; James, Loftus-Cheek, Kovacic, Chilwell; Sterling, Aubameyang, Mount

It seems likely that the winner of this fixture could go on to win the group with games against RB Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb awaiting both.

Two European heavyweights are set to collide, will Milan re-establish themselves as the favourites in Group E or will Graham Potter’s Chelsea continue to make progress as the winning run grows? We find out tonight.
