Valencia boss Gennaro Gattuso wants two Milan players

Endeavouring to preserve their lost legacy in La Liga, Valencia have hired Gennaro Gattuso as their new manager. The ex-Milan boss has targeted several names from his former club ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to journalist Daniele Longo, Valencia and Gennaro Gattuso have indentified Samu Castillejo and Tiémoué Bakayoko as his two summer transfer targets. The report understands that the Spanish club has already made contact with the entourage of Castillejo.

The 27-year-old’s contract with Rossoneri expires in June 2023. During Gattuso’s time in Milan, Castillejo played 39 games for the club, amassing four goals and four assists. The former Napoli manager wants to bring him to Spain.

Valencian have also asked the management of Bakayoko about the availability of the player. The Frenchman joined Milan on a two-year loan deal last summer. But having failed to cement his place in Stefano Pioli’s starting line-up, Bakayoko is set to leave the club one year early.

The former Monaco star will not return to play for Chelsea as he doesn’t see regular game time there as well. Reuniting with Gattuso reportedly interests the midfielder, who currently intends to study an exit strategy and convince the Londoners. Bakayoko has a contract with Chelsea until June 2024.
