Victor Osimhen on Napoli future: “We have to win something, then we’ll see what happens”

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has spoken about his future, saying that he wants to win a trophy with the Partenopei before thinking about his next move.

Osimhen was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer in a potential swap deal involving Cristiano Ronaldo. The move never took off due to the limits of time and finances. But while Ronaldo has been released by United, Osimhen is on fire for the Partenopei this season, scoring nine times and getting three assists in 11 Serie A games.

The Nigerian gave an interview to Il Mattino recently and he gave his views about his future. The striker stated:

“The future is this moment. It is to win something important in Italy. It’s difficult to think of anything better than Napoli: it’s one of the biggest teams in Europe, it’s an extraordinary club, and it’s normal that now I’m only focused on what we have to do this season. Because we haven’t done anything yet and we have to win something. Then we’ll see what happens.”

Osimhen was also asked about his views on where he can still improve as a player and he gave a rather honest answer about it.

“I have a video from when I was 17 which, at certain times, I watch it again. And I do it to understand how the Victor of the time has changed, how he is different. I compare everything, including running. I have been able to improve in many aspects since then and I know that, thanks to Spalletti, I am continuing to improve. My concentration helped me, as well as constructive criticism, those made for a good purpose.”

While Osimhen has had some fitness issues for Napoli sometimes, he has still made a huge impact at the club. In 76 games in all competitions for the side, he has scored 38 goals while also racking up 12 assists in what is a very good tally.
