Juventus and France midfielder Adrien Rabiot has revealed that he could stay at the Bianconeri beyond this season and he is happy at the club.
Rabiot’s current deal at Juve runs out in the summer and it was recently reported that the Old Lady are willing to meet the financial demands of the player by inserting bonuses into the deal. But Champions League qualification is expected to be vital, with relations between the club and Rabiot’s mother-agent quite good.
Rabiot recently spoke to Tuttosport about his future and he also focused on a host of other issues, including his liking for Liverpool. He revealed that he is happy at Juve and could stay at the club beyond this season.
He said: “At the moment, there’s no news, but we’ll certainly talk soon. Because in about two months the season will be over and we’ll try to discuss it, but I’m calm. There is the possibility of leaving but also the possibility of signing another contract with Juve for all the reasons I explained earlier.”
On his season at the Bianconeri so far, he stated: “I feel good in Turin, I do a good job at the club and there’s a good relationship with the directors, my team-mates and the coach. He also helped me in two years as well as giving me a lot of confidence. I believe that all of this is important to feel good and therefore make the right choice for my future.”
The Frenchman also spoke about Champions League qualification this season for the Old Lady, saying: “Without the 15 points deduction, it is certain that we would be able to qualify for the most important international competition. But honestly, given how we’re going in this second part of the season, and taking into account the strength of this group, I say we could qualify even if the penalty were to remain. I believe it, for me we are now second because that’s what the pitch says and the team has the strength to put pressure on those in front.”
Rabiot was also asked about the handball incident involving him during the recent win over Inter, as he had apparently touched the ball with his hand before Filip Kostic scored.
He stated: “In Italy, I understood that it’s always like this, when there’s something that can cause discussion, it’s talked about a lot and for a long time. With us, on the other hand, a little less, but I understand it because in Italy football is lived almost like a religion and therefore it represents a very important part of the life of the people who follow it and are fans.”
He also expressed his liking for Liverpool and Steven Gerrard, saying: “I liked Liverpool so much because I was a fan of Steven Gerrard who made me dream and therefore I followed the Reds. My other idol was Zidane.”
The Frenchman has impressed this season and while he was close to joining Manchester United in the summer, things have turned around for him quickly.
