Agent of Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior: “Important clubs in Italy wanted him”

The agent of new Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has revealed a host of clubs in Italy wanted to sign the Polish centre-back from Spezia.

The Gunners sealed the deal for the Pole from out of nowhere in January and while Kiwior is yet to make his debut for the Premier League leaders, he is seen as a solid piece of business, especially considering the number of big clubs that were linked with his signature.

In an interview withh TVPlay (via TMW), Kiwior’s agent Sasha Baranov has spoken about Italian clubs’ interest in signing him and how they missed out on the defender’s signing.

He stated: “In Italy all the important clubs except Inter expressed their interest – Napoli, Milan and Juventus. Due to the current situation, Napoli did not need to change the team in January, they wanted to bring the matter to the summer.”

On Milan and Juve, the agent stated: “We know what happened with Juve and Milan waited, then you know what happens when the Premier League teams arrive.”

West Ham had made attempts to sign the defender some months ago but they could not meet Spezia’s asking price for the player. Borussia Dortmund were also interested and RB Leipzig had seen him as a replacement for Josko Gvardiol, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
