Despite gap between the two clubs, there remains a possibility that Juventus and Chelsea could reach an agreement for a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku and Dušan Vlahović.
La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Fabiana della Valle has reported that contacts between Juve and Chelsea continued last night. As things stand, Cristiano Guintoli and Juve want a fee of €40 million to complete the swap deal and that is a crucial point of the negotiations.
Chelsea are yet to make a formal offer for the Serbian but they have made it clear to Juve that they will not be executing a simple deal. Their current offer is at about €10 million to €15 million including bonuses plus Lukaku. While it is not taken for granted that a deal will be reached, the facts that talks are ongoing is a very positive sign.
Chelsea currently recognise that a swap plus cash deal is the only way forward to get rid of Lukaku and an agreement is possible, although it is unknown when it will take place. Intermediaries are at work to make sure that Chelsea increase their offer and the Bianconeri reduce their asking price.
