Alexis Saelemaekers: “We know that Salernitana are never easy to face”

Shortly ahead of the kickoff against Salernitana, Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers provided his view of the match and the emotions within the Rossonerri dressing room over the past several days.

Since attaining their spot within the quarterfinals of the Champions League after overcoming Premier League outfit Tottenham by 1-0 scoreline on aggregate, Pioli’s side find themselves within reach of a spot within the top four despite crumbling to Fiorentina as their cross-city rivals Inter failed to defeat Spezia earlier on Friday.

With plenty on the line at the San Siro this evening, the Belgian international spoke on the importance of the match given the three point difference that separates both Milanese clubs, as well as the emotions after securing an appearance within the quarter finals of the Champions League, as relayed by MilanNews:

“I think it (qualifying for the quarterfinals of the Champiosn League) was positive for the team. It was important to continue with what we were doing. We passed to the next roundbut now we have to be focused on this match.”

“We know that Salernitana are never easy to face, they’re a very strong team. We have to be attentive and do everything we’ve worked on in training this week. Today I feel very good, if I can help the team with a goal I’ll be happy.”
