Ante Rebic’s future at Milan far from certain; Stephan El Shaarawy a possible replacement

Croatian internatonal Ante Rebic’s future at Milan is far from certain beyond this year’s campaign, causing the Rossonerri to potentially plot the return of Italian winger Stephan El Shaarawy on Milanese soil.

As it stands, Rebic’s contract is at €3m per-season until the summer of 2025. As a result of his inconsistent run of form, scoring solely 16 goals in 74 appearances across all competitions for the Diavolo, Tuttosport, via MilanNews reports that the Milanese club is considering to offload the 29 year-old as they are unsure about paying high-wages for a player who has struggled to hit the ground running over the course of the past two seasons.

Consequently, Milan have identified Roma winger El Shaararwy as a possible signing in preparation of next season. Having been rejuvenated with the Giallorossi under Jose Mourinho as he tallied six goals and an assist in 27 games-played, the Rossonerri view the 30 year-old as an asset that can fit seamlessly within the club’s philosophy of play.

The attacking minded player reached his peak with Milan since joining from Genoa in 2011, scoring 21 goals in 82 appearances throughout his five-year stay before departing to both Monaco and Roma on loan spells.

Such a reunion would be considered glamorous within the Italian top-flight league as El Shaarrawy is one player that is held dearly within the heart of Milan supporters.
