Antonio Conte keeping close eye on Jose Mourinho’s situation at Roma

Former Tottenham and Inter boss Antonio Conte boss is keeping a close eye on Roma’s managerial situation, amidst the uncertainty surrounding the situation of Jose Mourinho.

La Repubblica have reported that the paths of Mourinho and Roma seem quite destined to go separate ways in the summer. His comments yesterday were an attack on the club’s nature, when he stated that the Giallorossi don’t have the strength to stop the appointment of certain referees. He also stated that Roma don’t have the squad to qualify for the top four and that is also a clear hint at where his future lies.

All of this, it is stated, is a reflection of the distance between him and the club’s higher management. He wants more established players in the side, whereas Roma are more keen on developing younger players – something that Mourinho has done so far, but he wants to do something different now.

Because of this difference in philosophies, an exit seems well on the horizon. Conte is keeping an eye on the situation and he has a keen desire to return to Italy. A return to Juventus is quite unlikely and the same also applies for Inter, but Roma will become a serious option if Mourinho leaves. The Friedkins brought in Mourinho to add an international flavour to the club and Conte’s CV could do just that.
