Atalanta are never strangers to sign quality young players and replacing their gilded talents with undervalued stars and they could be preparing to do that again in the case of Manchester United-linked Rasmus Højlund.
L’Eco di Bergamo (via TuttoAtalanta) today state that United are interested in the Danish striker and could pay a big fee for him. To make sure that La Dea aren’t left unprepared in a situation like that, they are already looking at potential replacements for the 20-year-old starlet.
They see another Danish talent – Midtjylland’s Gustav Isaksen, as a potential replacement. The 22-year-old is also attracting attention from other clubs such as Arsenal, Napoli and Milan. But if Højlund does pack his bags and heads to Manchester, Atalanta will move for his compatriot Isaksen.
A product of the Midtjylland youth academy, Isaksen scored thrice in the Europa League last season and scored nine times in the domestic league for the club. He also scored nine more goals in the relegation round for the Danish club.
