Charting Carlo Ancelotti’s record against Napoli

Carlo Ancelotti returns as the Real Madrid manager to face his former managerial club Napoli in the group stages of the Champions League. While the battle will see the Italian manager take on the Partenopei twice, the clash at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona happens tonight.

Carlo Ancelotti has faced Napoli 12 times in his managerial career during his times with Milan, Juventus and Parma. The 64-year-old has recorded an astounding nine victories, a draw and two losses.

The first defeat against the Neapolitans came in the 1996-97 Serie A season when Ancelotti lost with his Parma side and the second one was dealt with Milan in the 2007-08 as the Rossoneri finished out of the top-four standings.

‘Don Carlo’ has won with a total margin of 27:10 in terms of goals scored and conceded across all twelve matches he has faced against Napoli and this will be the first time that he takes the 14-time European champions to Naples.

Los Blancos last faced the Partenopei in the Round of 16 of the Champions League back in 2016-17 and came out as victors over the two legs with a 6-2 margin on aggregate.
