Chelsea and Manchester United interested in Inter’s André Onana

Chelsea are interested in the possibility of signing Inter goalkeeper André Onana and the Nerazzurri could sell the player, if a hefty offer comes their way. Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the 26-year-old.

Onana had joined Inter on a free transfer and La Gazzetta dello Sport state that there is a rather concrete chance of the Cameroon international heading to the Premier League. Inter value him at €40 million and if Chelsea offer that, the ex-Ajax goalkeeper will be sold to the Blues.

Inter have not received any offers yet but they are aware of Chelsea’s interest and they know that the Blues will look to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer and that the relations between the two clubs are excellent. A prominent Chelsea scout did watch Onana play against Porto recently and Graham Potter’s interest is growing.

Chelsea’s technical director Lawrence Stewart has previously been close to taking Onana to Monaco and a move to the Blues will allow Inter to potentially keep Romelu Lukaku at the club and potentially hand them a sweetener to open talks for Trevoh Chalobah. If Lukaku does not stay for another season, Inter would look to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – especially if he ends up being a free-agent.

As for United, Erik ten Hag still has a liking for Onana despite the fact that David de Gea seems to be signing a new deal at Old Trafford. Onana is someone Ten Hag is keeping tabs on, if United do decide to strengthen their goalkeeping department.
