Chelsea initiate talks with Inter for André Onana

Chelsea have initiated contact with Inter for goalkeeper André Onana and they could be willing to offer Kepa in a potential cash plus player deal.

La Gazzetta dello Sport today that good relations between the two clubs means that Inter and Chelsea speak to each other constantly about potential signings. In the meantime, the Blues have spoken to Inter about Onana and they have followed his progress for a long time.

They have scouted the goalkeeper this season multiple times and they will have an eye on him during the upcoming Coppa Italia clash against Juventus as well. They would even be willing to insert Kepa in a possible exchange and since he has been at the club for a while now, his value has reduced and the Blues could even be willing to offer cash in the deal.

Regardless of who becomes the next Chelsea boss, Onana will remain a key target for the club because his signing is the exclusive request of Lawrence Stewart, the club’s technical director. Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili is also on the Blues’ shortlist but Onana is much higher up, as things stand.

The Cameroon international is valued at €40 million by Inter and his sale would present a valuable capital gain for Steven Zhang’s club, who seem to be interested in Kepa. And while they would rather want a straight cash deal, the lure of signing a replacement and getting cash would present a unique opportunity for Inter.
