Roma defender Chris Smalling is set to sign a new contract with the Giallorossi and stay at the club beyond this season.
Il Messaggero have reported that Smalling has finally found an agreement for a new deal with Roma. He will sign a new two-year deal with the club and he will earn €7 million across the duration of the contract.
The agreement was reached after Tiago Pinto and Smalling’s agent found an agreement following a meeting in Rome around Easter. The last few hours have proved to be vital in the saga, with Jose Mourinho now set to avoid a Henrikh Mkhitaryan situation. His agent has already posted a couple of photos on his Instagram handle, essentially confirming the good news around the defender.
The will of Smalling’s family has proved vital in the decision and his wife and son love Rome. The 33-year-old has made 28 Serie A appearances this season, scoring three goals and proving vital for the club in the campaign so far.
