Cristiano Guintoli’s Juventus move from Napoli now under doubt

There are now increasing doubts about whether Juventus will end up signing Napoli’s Cristiano Guintoli as their sporting director.

The Italian has been heavily linked with a move to the Bianconeri, with the Partenopei sporting director said to be keen on the move. English clubs Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea were said to be interested in Guintoli, but he seemed on his way to the Old Lady.

But Gianluca di Marzio has now claim that while Juve have an agreement with Guintoli over a five-year deal to make him their sporting director, Aurelio de Laurentiis is yet to give his agreement and approval to the move. And if this stalemate goes on for too long, Guintoli’s move will fall through.

Juve have now contacted other candidates and will then recruit internally. Apart from De Laurentiis, Juve’s internal issues are also proving to be a problem in the move. The club first want to evaluate the disciplinary sanctions that are imposed on them and consider whether they qualify for the Champions League or not. Max Allegri is yet to give his approval to the move, even though he seems set to stay at Juve.
