Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović could have a release clause in his new Juventus contract, with talks expected to take place this week.
The striker was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer and the move would’ve involved a swap deal with Romelu Lukaku. But the move never materialised, as parties failed to reach an agreement.
Fabiana della Valle has reported that talks over a new contract will take place this week and a meeting is scheduled betwen Juve and the 23-year-old’s agent Dario Ristic. At the end of the summer transfer window, the two parties had met to lay down the basis of a new deal and the player’s agent had opened up to the possibility.
Juve want to extend Vlahović’s stay by one or two years, so that they find a way to ammortise his wages across a longer amount of time. He currently costs €35 million across a year and that is quite a lot for the club that is trying to cut down on expenses.
The player has already expressed his desire to sign a new deal, with the club studying the possibility of adding a release clause in the event of an exit. The same method was followed for Matthijs de Ligt, who departed for Juventus.
