FIGC’s federal prosecutor has now closed the investigation into Jose Mourinho’s recent comments about referee Daniele Chiffi.
Roma were held to a 1-1 draw by Monza last night and Mourinho was left fuming after the result. He criticised Chiffi, calling him a ‘horrible’ referee and he also went as far as to say that Chiffi is ‘not empathetic’ as a human either and that he is the worst referee that Mourinho has ever seen.
FIGC’s federal prosecutor had opened an investigation into the case and into what Mourinho had said. The investigation has now closed, with Mourinho set to be on the bench against Inter because the incidents took place after the game and not during it.
FIGC have notified the Portuguese and Roma of the conclusion of the investigation in the early afternoon by way of strict liability. Mourinho has violated 4.1 and 23.1 of the sports justice code.
The Giallorossi have two paths now, with the first being that their version of the story will be presented. The second option would make sure that Mourinho would get away with a fine, but Roma have made it clear that they first want all the documents of the case before making a decision.
