Former Marseille boss Igor Tudor nears Napoli move

There are some positive signs that former Marseille boss Igor Tudor will take over as Napoli manager soon.

Rudi Garcia is heading for the exit door, as it has been previously reported. Napoli are currently fourth in the Serie A table, as they look to defend their crown this season. The inconsistent spells under Garcia have seen the Partenopei find themselves ten points away from the top of the table.

Sky Italia state that Garcia is already the club’s ‘past’ and he will likely be sacked later today. Tudor has been identified as a replacement for the Frenchman.

Later today, contact will be made with Tudor’s agent and Aurelio de Laurentiis will have the meeting in Rome later today. If an agreement is reached, which seems likely, the Croatian could take over the club’s next training session. If he doesn’t join, Walter Mazzarri could become a potential option.

After the loss to Empoli yesterday, the club had announced a press silence. Garcia, in the dressing room, took blame for the loss but captain Giovanni di Lorenzo replied: ‘it is our fault too,’ essentially speaking for the rest of the side. The players gradually left the dressing room but Garcia remained inside, but didn’t meet De Laurentiis as the club’s CEO had left the stadium.
