Genoa’s Manolo Portanova to hold press conference after gang rape sentence

Genoa’s Manolo Portanova will convene a press conference tomorrow after the player was sentenced to six years in prison for gang rape.

Secolo XIX state that Portanova has called a press conference for tomorrow, Friday 10 March, at 5.30 pm at the Tower Genoa Airport in Sestri Ponente. Portanova’s lawyer, Gabriele Bordoni, will also be present at the press conference.

On Monday morning, the judge of the court of Siena – Ilaria Cornetti had filed the reasons for the conviction of the footballer in which she had described not only how the victim had not given consent to sexual intercourse but how she had been forced to ‘suffer a nightmare of 40 minutes and had been treated as an object’.

Portanova’s lawyer had immediately contested these reasons by announcing an appeal against it. The press conference is likely to be an explanation of his version of events.

Back in December last year, Portanova was sentence to six years in prison for gang raping a 21-year-old back in May 2021.
