Giovanni di Lorenzo’s agent Mario Giufreddi has revealed that the defender wants to stay at the Partenopei for the whole of his career, having recently won Serie A with the Partenopei.
Di Lorenzo was one of Napoli’s most important players in the campaign and while the likes of Cristiano Guintoli, Piotr Zielinski and Luciano Spalletti are leaving, there is little doubt about Di Lorenzo’s future at the club. He was previously linked with a move to Atletico Madrid but he has become Napoli’s first captain since Diego Maradona to win the Scudetto.
But his agent Giufreddi spoke to Radio CRC (via TMW) recently and he gave his views about the Azzurri star’s future at the Partenopei.
He said: “He wants to stay at Napoli for life precisely because we are all convinced that certain flags can exist. In the coming weeks, we will meet with the club and we’ll talk about it. Garcia is a coach with great experience and his results are underestimated.”
He also praised new Napoli boss Rudi Garcia, saying: “You don’t have to be superficial looking at what he has coached in Saudi Arabia in recent years. He has very important qualities and has achieved results in his career. Repeating what Spalletti has done will be difficult, as it would have been for anyone.”
Last season, Di Lorenzo played 37 Serie A games and scored three times while racking up four assists. Throughout his time at the club, the Italian has been a reliable figure at the back while showing immense tactical versatility and discipline under different managers.
