Napoli’s close 1-0 win over Juventus has sparked wild celebrations across the city of Naples because of what it means for the Partenopei to beat the Bianconeri. But the win is significant for another reason, as the Scudetto might be coming home soon for the third time in the club’s history.
There is currently a 17-point gap between Napoli and second-placed Lazio, who have 61 points on board. But Maurizio Sarri’s side take on Inter in their next Serie A game on Sunday and Napoli play their game against Salernitana on Saturday. This means that if Napoli win against the Salerno-based outfit on Saturday and then Lazio fail to win against Inter, the Partenopei will seal the Scudetto with six games to go as the gap between the two sides will exceed 18 points.
Earlier this season though, Lazio had managed to beat Inter rather convincingly at the Stadio Olimpico and this suggests that sealing the Scudetto this week might not be guaranteed for Napoli.
