Igor Tudorโ€™s agent on failed Napoli move: โ€œHe wouldโ€™ve never accepted a seven-month dealโ€

The agent of former Marseille manager Igor Tudor has revealed that the Croatian did not want to accept a seven-month deal from Napoli and that is why the move fell thorugh.

The Partenopei, a couple of days ago, seemed to be close to hiring Tudor to replace Rudi Garcia. But hours later, the pendullum swung and Napoli ended up approaching Walter Mazzarri on a seven-month-long deal and the Italian was quick to accept the offer.

It was reported that Tudor didnโ€™t accept the short term deal and recently, his agent Anthony Seric spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via CM) confirmed that talk, revealing that Tudor never wanted to be a โ€˜ferrymanโ€™.

He said: โ€œIgor was not willing to act as a ferryman. He wants a context in which he can complete a cycle, where there is a project in which he can be involved on a longer term.โ€

He further stated: โ€œHe would never have accepted 7 months. Napoli told us their needs and we told us ours. Once clarified, they would have let us know whether to choose Tudor for at least a year and a half.โ€

The public opinion in recent days has been rather negative about Mazzarriโ€™s appointment, considering how his career has turned out to be since his previous stint at Napoli. Tudorโ€™s career has been on the rise, as he impressed at both Verona and Marseille.
