Inter are considering Simone Inzaghi’s future, confirms Gianluca di Marzio

Inter are considering Simone Inzaghi’s future and they could part ways with the Italian in the summer, Gianluca di Marzio has revealed.

There has been constant chatter about Inzaghi’s position at Inter over the last few weeks, with reports stating that he has lost the dressing room and the club’s higher-ups not happy with the results so far in the campaign. They recently fell to a 1-0 loss to Juventus as well.

Gianluca di Marzio spoke to TMW recently and have gave his views about a host of issues. He revealed Inter could part ways with Inzaghi and Thiago Motta could be a potential replacement for the ex-Lazio boss.

The journalist stated: “I don’t know but regardless of how it ends, we could go towards a divorce. Evidently, the multiple defeats this year, especially with the small ones, it is possible that in the heads of the managers and the club there is a doubt that the team he could have done better than what he did because Inter have always been there in the big matches.”

He further stated: “The club thinks they have a squad with a higher ranking value than what the current one put forward. But then in football the judgments change, maybe in the case of the semi-final of the Champions League [things change]. But you can perceive something creaking in the feeling between the parties.”

Motta has been heavily linked with a move to Inter, especially after Bologna beat the Nerazzurri some weeks ago and Di Marzio revealed that the ex-Inter midfielder is under observation by Meazza-based side regarding a managerial role.

He stated: “I know he’s under observation, there are requests for information to better understand how he is as a person, as a coach. He’s one of those that Inter have on their list, as it should be that is in the event of a divorce with Inzaghi.

“It is a pity to have to talk about a coach under contract with a team who hired him when he was supposed to replace Mihajlovic, Thiago Motta was at home. Credit to Bologna for having thought about it and therefore, they have every right to enjoy him for at least another year and to start from the beginning with him.”

Inter are currently third in Serie A and are two points behind Lazio, who climbed above them after a win over Roma. But as Di Marzio suggests, where Inter finish may not matter anymore and Inzaghi could leave the club regardless of where they finish.
