Inter chief Beppe Marotta hits back at Nahitan Nandez rumours: “Fake news”

Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has spoken out over the recent comments made by the agent of Cagliari star Nahitan Nandez, regarding the Nerazzurri’s interest in his client.

The name of midfielder Nandez has taken its place centre stage in the headlines on the blue half of the Milan divide across the week to date.

This comes after media speculation pointed towards the board at San Siro expressing a keen interest in the signature of the Uruguayan, ahead of the January transfer window.

Such claims were then swiftly followed by Nandez’s representative, Pablo Bentancur, adding further fuel to the fire, in stating that negotiations between his client and Inter were in full swing.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s Champions League meeting with Benfica, the subject of the all-action midfielder’s potential arrival in Milan was therefore put to Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta.

And the Italian made use of the opportunity to take firm aim at Pablo Bentancur.

First, during an interview with Sport Mediaset, Marotta shot down the claims that talks have been opened for Nandez:

I can say that the squad available to Inzaghi is very good and has a good mix of players. We have a team that is up to the objectives and we will continue like this.“

“As regards the declarations of the representatives, We deny them, with all due respect, this on Nandez is fake news.

Marotta then reiterated his stance whilst speaking to Sky Sport, explaining:

“[Nandez’s agent Pablo] Bentancur’s statements are out of place.”

“We’ve never been in talks for the player. I say this with all due respect.“
