Inter consider cash bonus in case of Champions League qualification

The Inter management is said to be considering handing a cash bonus to Simone Inzaghi and the players, if the side does manage to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that after the loss to Monza on Saturday, Inzaghi was in a meeting involving the Inter management yesterday. It was reiterated to Inzaghi that things aren’t going right and they need to improve soon.

A surprise decision was made during the meeting and it is stated that the club’s management is considering handing a bonus to Inzaghi and the players, if they manage to qualify for the Champions League in whatever way possible for next season. While it is an ‘extreme’ move, it is being reflected upon in an attempt to motivate the players.

In the meeting, it was told to Inzaghi that not even a second can be lost anymore and they also spoke about the attitude of the team and it was made clear that Champions League qualification is the minimum goal that needs to be achieved. As of now, it seems as if the management seems positive about the bonuses idea but if Inter fail to make it past Benfica in the Champions League, Inzaghi’s job will be at risk.
