Inter interested in summer Chris Smalling transfer

Inter are interested in the possibility of signing Roma’s Chris Smalling on a free transfer in the summer.

As things stand, the Nerazzurri could lose two of their current starting centre-backs in Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar, as both of their contracts are running out in the summer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have stated that Inter see Smalling as a replacement for De Vrij and the Engishman’s agent has already tested the waters with the Nerazzurri and has found that the interest is mutual. If Smalling plays 29 games for Roma, he will have an option to extend for another season but as of now, his future at the club remains uncertain.

The Nerazzurri would be willing to go so far as to offer a two-year contract, which will have wages of €3.5 million per season plus bonuses that can take the packet to €4 million per season. The possibility of them signing the defender in the summer seems concrete.

As for Skriniar, Inter see Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini as a replacement and have found positive signs in that regard as well.
