Inter no longer convinced on signing Alvaro Morata, Folarin Balogun emerges as primary target

Despite the former Juventus striker being deemed as Inzaghi’s preferred choice as the alternative signing to Romelu Lukaku, Inter are no longer convinced on signing Alvaro Morata, resulting in Folarin Balogun emerging as the primary candidate in order to complete the front-line.

FcInter1908 reports that Inter are unwilling to meet Spanish giants Atletico Madrid’s high asking- price of €20m for the 30 year-old, whose contract with Diego Simeone’s side is set to expire in the summer of 2024.

As a result, the Nerazzurri have shifted their focus on Arsenal and USMNT star Balogun, as the Benemata are prepared to offer a €5m season-loan fee with an obligation to buy worth €35m in order meet the Gunners demands of €40m for the clinical goalscorer.

Within last year’s season, Balogun had a very successful loan-spell with Stade Reims, attaining 22 goals and one assist in 39 appearances across all competitions for the Ligue 1 side, developing into arguably the hottest prospect across Europe.

Although Morata has more experience within the Serie A than the young prospect after having played a total of four seasons with the Bianconeri, Inter refuse to pay the lucrative wages and high transfer fee of the Spaniard and feel more confident in exploiting a large sum of their financial resources on signing the promising star, whom has thrived over the course of last season within France.
