Inter now cautious about Romelu Lukaku loan extension after disappointments

Inter have grown cautious about the possibility of extending Romelu Lukaku’s loan after his fitness issues and disappointing performances.

The Belgian was quite poor against Monza and has now picked up another injury – his third of the campaign so far. La Gazzetta dello Sport have described Lukaku as a ‘problem’ and there is now no certainty about the striker’s future.

Inter are said to be disappointed and the same applies for Simone Inzaghi. It is stated that the Belgian is not fit at all and that is hindering his progress. It is reported by the outlet that Lukaku did not begin training with his teammates before the Monza game and he began training 15 minutes later. He used that time for an intensive massage.

It is stated that Lukaku now needs a long warm-up before playing to be effective and everyone at Inter is concerned about the situation. Inter have spoken to Chelsea since last summer about a loan extension but they are now cautious and closesly monitoring his situation, as this isn’t how they expected the return to go.
