Ismael Bennacer after Milan’s 2-2 draw v Lecce: “We still believe in the Scudetto”

Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer has stated his belief that the Rossoneri can still win the Scudetto, despite their disappointing 2-2 draw with Lecce.

Theo Hernandez put the ball into his own net and minutes later, Federico Baschirotto headed in Lecce’s second goal to make sure that the coastal side picked up a 2-0 lead at halftime. The Rossoneri pulled one back through Rafael Leao in the second half and Davide Calabria equalised soon. But Milan failed to get an all-important winner.

They are now nine points behind leaders Napoli, who picked up a 5-1 win over Juventus yesterday. After the game, Bennacer spoke to DAZN (via TMW) about the game and whether Milan still believe in winning the title.

The Algerian said: “We wanted three points tonight, we didn’t start well by conceding two goals so then we got back into the game. We had some chances to win, we have to win again. We are all united, we have to work again.”

On whether the side still believes in winning the league, the midfielder said: “Of course, we’ll believe it until the end. We have to see what we’ve done wrong to try and learn.”

The draw means that Milan have not won in any of their last three games in all competitions, as they lost to Torino in extra time and succumbed to a late Roma comeback last weekend in a game that ended 2-2.
