Italy to make manager decision about Luciano Spalletti soon

Italy continue to scour the market for potential replacements for Roberto Mancini and Luciano Spalletti remains in the lead.

Talks have been held between FIGC and the ex-Napoli boss, but Partenopei CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis is proving to be a boulder.

Gianluca di Marzio has reported that despite some setbacks, FIGC are not withdrawing from the chance to make Spalletti their new manager. They took about three or four days to look at the Italian’s situation from close by and that will be used, along with legal opinion, to consider how to operate with Napoli since Spalletti still has a deal with the Naples-based side.

At the end of this week, a decision will be made about Spalletti and whether he will be hired or not. Spalletti will also be consulted about the choice, as he is interested in taking over the role.

There is a possibility that De Laurentiis could change his mind about being keen on taking the termination fee from Spalletti’s deal. But if talks with Napoli progress, FIGC could well end up hiring Spalletti soon enough.
