Jose Mourinho drops Tammy Abraham for Bologna clash

Roma boss Jose Mourinho dropped striker Tammy Abraham for the Giallorossi’s Serie A clash against Bologna.

Abraham was not selected by Gareth Southgate for the FIFA World Cup and while the move raised eyebrows, Abraham hasn’t had an impressive season by any means for Roma.

Mourinho dropped the striker for the Bologna clash, as Paulo Dybala, Nicolo Zaniolo and Lorenzo Pellegrini started in the front three. It was Pellegrini’s first half penalty that had handed the Giallorossi a lead after Dybala was brought down in the box.

So far in the season, Abraham has scored only three goals in Serie A and has one assist to his name only. As per FBRef, he has underperformed on his Expected Goals metric by 3.3, which is quite massive. He had scored 17 times in the league last season and only three of them were penalties.

Abraham has been linked with a return to the Premier League but performances show that he may not be ready for it.
