José Mourinho slams Roma stars after Slavia defeat: ‘We all deserve defeat except Bove’

Roma head coach José Mourinho did not hold back in his post-match media duties, after overseeing a surprise defeat at the hands of Slavia Prague.

The Giallorossi marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to the Czech Republic for a meeting with the aforementioned Slavia. After thanking a miracle comeback for a Serie A victory over Lecce at the weekend, though, on this occasion, the capital giants had no such luck.

Owing to goals on the part of Slavia pair Václav Jurečka and Lukáš Masopust, Roma were ultimately condemned to the wrong side of a 2-0 result.

Speaking to Sky Sport, via TuttomercatoWeb, on the back of the full-time whistle at the Eden Arena, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear that boss José Mourinho was in less than positive form.

Taking aim at his squad, the Portuguese went as far as to state that he ‘didn’t like’ any aspect of Roma’s latest performance:

“Everything was missing, I don’t want to talk too much and no one should talk. A very deserved result for them in the positive sense, very deserved for us in the negative sense. I didn’t like anything. I’ve already spoken to the players in the locker room which is something I don’t ever do. What I said will remain between us, I want to be honest and fair with the Slavia boys who deserved it.”

And yet, Mourinho was keen to single one Roma star – Edoardo Bove – out for what he felt was much-deserved praise

“I expected these difficulties, we prepared the match with the limitations we have by leaving Cristante and Dybala out. What I liked is Bove, a twenty-year-old boy and only one can’t make you win the match. We all deserve defeat except him”.
