Juventus’ Max Allegri after Napoli hammering: “The defeat is more than deserved”

Juventus boss Max Allegri has stated that the Bianconeri deserved to lose to Napoli, who picked up a dominating 5-1 win over the Old Lady.

Juve came into the game on an eight game unbeaten run and they hadn’t conceded even once in any of those wins. Napoli were seven points clear at the top of the table but a Victor Osimhen brace and goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Amir Rrahmani and Eljif Elmas made sure that they are ten clear at the top, as they put in a performance of the highest drawer.

After the game, Allegri spoke to DAZN (via TMW) about the result and he stated his belief that Juve deserved to lose and there were many occasions where they could have done better but the season is long and things can still change.

The Italian said: “We have to congratulate Napoli, we were a bit low on energy and after the first twenty minutes in difficulty we got up.

“You just need to see the third goal from a corner, you have to get back on your feet, recover your energy and start working again. The championship is long, the game tonight just went this way.”

The Juve boss further stated: “When there are these mistakes it’s difficult not to concede goals, they happen. It happened on an evening against the best in the class, they deserve the primacy they have. We need to work, grow, recover the injured and we need to see the positive. We had a good moment in the first half. The defeat is more than deserved, the road is long.”

Milan play Lecce tomorrow and Inter take on Verona and have a chance to go over Juve in the table.
